The patron saint festivities have already started in Puerto Vallarta.

If you have ever been to Puerto Vallarta the first days of December, you will have noticed that the city celebrates -mainly in the center- one of the largest Catholic traditions in the country: Our Lady of Guadalupe.

From December 1 to 12, downtown Puerto Vallarta is “dressed up” to celebrate the most representative figure of the Catholic religion in Mexico. Entire families come to see the pilgrimage of contingents or groups of civil society, private companies, Catholic groups and civil associations.

The music of the wind bands, mariachis, war bands and religious songs announce the arrival of each contingent, which is accompanied by cars decorated with Catholic motifs and by candlelight.

The objective of the pilgrims is the same: to reach the Parish of Our Lady of Guadalupe. The construction of this Vallarta sanctuary dates from 1903 with the placement of the foundations in the same place where there was a small chapel in which the Virgin herself was worshiped. The crown that finishes off its architecture was placed in 1965 but it was not until 1987 that the decoration of the building in general was completed, remaining as we know it today.

The processions begin on Juárez Street at the Woolworth department store and head towards the parish. Any point you choose on that street will be ideal for you to enjoy the passage of the parishioners.

The main square and its surroundings celebrate these days with the sale of Mexican snacks and the gastronomy of the region. You will find products from pot coffee to desserts that you can enjoy while you join the celebration.

If you want to live this experience, it is time to reserve and prepare your bags. At Casa Carmen Hotel Boutique we have the services to make your stay in Puerto Vallarta an unforgettable vacation.
